Design & Technology is fundamentally about converting ideas in raw materials into the products and services that we all need and use every day. The Design and Technology curriculum at Leasowes High School consists of a range of creative, ambitious and innovative experiences of designing and practical based activities. Students will progress their critical thinking and problem-solving skills within a creative environment, enabling them to develop and make prototypes/products that solve real world problems.
Students will demonstrate their technical knowledge of materials, product function, manufacturing processes and techniques, while designing and manufacturing prototypes and products. Students will learn how to use the latest Computer Aided Design software and will use a variety of different digital outputs, such as 3D printing, Laser cutting and other CNC machinery. Following many successful years, Leasowes High School and Invictus Multi Academy Trust has been awarded F1 in Schools Academy status.
Students will be taught on a rotation system throughout the year, covering a range of projects in both Design & Technology and Food. Students will produce work in booklets and create a variety of models, products and Food outcomes during KS3. There are many opportunities to attend extra-curricular clubs and competitions in F1, RAF and many more.
