Careers at Leasowes

Careers education at Leasowes focuses on the skills, personal attributes and attitude that individuals need to be successful in life, as well as researching future career pathways. The careers programme is mapped to both The Gatsby benchmarks and the CDI framework. Careers underpins subject teaching, where lessons are contextualised and students are given the opportunity to work individually and collaboratively, reflecting on their performance and setting targets for improvement. Careers is also delivered through the PSHCE programme, tutor time and bespoke careers assemblies. Throughout their time at Leasowes students will learn about the labour market, attend careers fairs in and out of school and visit higher and further education providers. All students take part in at least two employer engagement activities or workshops each year such as ‘What’s My line?’ which is very popular with year7. All year 10 students are encouraged to complete a week’s work experience and all year 11 students have a careers guidance meeting with our school careers advisor. Leasowes likes to work closely with parents and encourage them to share their expertise, skills and work placement opportunities with our students. We aim to inspire all of our students to be the very best that they can be; to be ambitious, focused and fulfilled.
